The "Houblon" £50 note is to be demonetised this week (Wednesday April 30) but despite what this BBC article says you don't need to take them to the Bank of England to get them changed up - most high street banks will do it for you. Demonetised just means you can't spend them in the shops but with most shops wary of £50 notes anyway that's not really news....!!
