The Daily Mail website and the BBC have reported that Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that there will be a new Arctic Convoy Star specifically awarded to those who served on the Russian Convoys in World War II and a clasp for Bomber Command Veterans, presumably to be worn on the Air Crew Europe Star/1939-45 Star. This decision is sure to prove highly controversial as whilst the Arctic Convoy and Bomber Command Veterans have been campaigning for years for such medallic recognition this does rather "open the floodgates" for other Veterans' Organisations to campaign for their own medals...we shall see....
