The VC of Commander, Later Rear Admiral, John Bythesea, awarded for service in the Crimea in August 1854 made a good price when it came under the hammer at Spink on April 19
The cross, the second ever awarded, fetched £155,350 and was bought by an agent who's name has been closely linked with Lord Ashcroft's collection in the past - maybe the country's premier gallantry collection just got a little bigger?
