Beauty in the eye of the beholder

It has aways been assumed that Cleopatra - the Egyptian Queen who captured the heart of Mark Antony and led to a bitter rift in the Roman Empire was a stunning beauty - however a silver denarius that has gone on display in Newcastle would seem to indicate differently. The coin, which depicts Antony on the obverse, shows that whoever struck it though that the Queen was somewhat different to the image we may have of her today.
