Royal Mint Launch Brunel £2 Coin

Posted on Tue, 21 February 2006 by Phil Mussell - General News, Coin News

On a very cold and wet February morning on Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol the Royal Mint (loyally attended by Phil our Marketing Manager) launched the new Brunel £2 coins - one depicting the Great Engineer himself, the other depicting his works (in this case the roof at Paddington Station).

Adam Hart-Davis presenter of a variety of history and science programmes(and star of the tax adverts - tax needn't be taxing) was also there to add some star appeal - and was gamely dressed as Isambard Kingdom, of whom he is a great fan.

The coins are available now in an uncirculated pack and in proof sets and will go into circulation in April
