It was reported in some newspapers on July 9 that there was indeed to be a medal awarded for service in the War against Saddam/WAr against Iraq/Gulf War II/ call it what you will. At this stage it is unclear whether theaward will be an entirely new medal as it was in 1991 with the first Gulf War Medal or whether a clasp will be authorised for the Operational Service Medal (the replacement for the GSM) if the latter we could find the interesting situation where both the OSM and GSM are awarded for the same conflict as the GSM is still awarded where the clasp is "Air Opeartions Iraq" - we'll keep you posted.
