Fakes and forgeries

Recently it has come to our attention that unscrupulous individuals within our hobby are producing medals with an intent to defraud collectors.

Copy medals have always been around and generally are an accepted part of the hobby (aftter all we all have gaps to fill) unfortunately there are those out there who are taking these copies, and trying to pass them off as original. These fakes can be spotted quite readily - but only if you know what you are looking for.

With this in mind we have now published a new section within the magazine called "On Guard" - this section aims to forewarn and forearm collectors as to what fakes are out there by describing the tell tale signs to look out for. In the March issue we tell you how to detect "copy" WWI medals.
