Usually, an auction sale will contain one, maybe two "star items" as headliners but the next Dix Noonan Webb sale on December 8 has no fewer than three!

The excessively rare Afghanistan 2007 ‘Battle of the Sluice Gate’ CGC, ‘Iraq 2003’ MID double gallantry group of seven awarded to Warrant Officer Class II J. T. ‘Tommo’ Thompson, 42 Commando, late 40 Commando, Royal Marines is estimated to sell at £120,000-140,000. The impressive ‘Iraq’ George Medal group of six awarded to Colour Sergeant M. P. Caines, Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, one of only five George Medals awarded during the Iraq conflict, is estimated at £20,000-30,000 and the important DFC* group of seven awarded to Battle of Britain Fighter Ace Squadron Leader A. C. ‘Bolshie’ Bartley of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (credited with at least 12 Victories, 8 damaged, a number of probables and possibles) is expected to fetch £100,000-140,000.
