"We are a small music publishing company and our house composer has been commissioned to write a new work for choir and orchestra to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, to be performed on the Portsmouth seafront at the national D-Day commemorations this June. The orchestra will be joined on stage by a choir of around 100 local schoolchildren, local community musicians and live video projection of interviews with D-Day veterans conducted by the participating children. This unusual project has a strong educational focus and we hope that it will increase interest in the history of D-Day not only among the children who participate, but also those who are following the project online and who perform the work when it is subsequently published.
Because the project is not yet fully funded, we are keen to spread awareness amongst those with an interest in military history and who might like to support the project’s aims.
