D-Day 75 £2 CoinTo mark the 75th Anniversary of Operation Overlord - the invasion of Northern Europe which started on D-Day, June 6, 1944, with the largest amphibious assault in history - the Royal Mint have launched a commemorative £2 coin featuring the five beaches (Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno and Sword) where the Americans, Canadians and British landed in Normandy.

The coin is available in gold and silver proof versions (the silver as a piedfort and standard size coin) and as a base metal brilliant uncirculated issue - but we are told it won't be entering general circulation.
