It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of John Tamplin - one of the "old guard" stalwarts of the medal hobby.
As an author of numerous medallic books - not least the wonderful "British Gallantry Awards" - and renowned collector, John was at the very heart of the hobby for many years and whilst old age and illness had kept him away from his beloved medals in recent years his passing has left a void that will be very difficult to fill. He will be sorely missed
