Jim Wallwork RIP

Jim Wallwork DFM, glider pilot who took part in the famed Pegasus Bridge Coup de Main on June 6 1944 has died aged 93 at his home in Vancouver, Canada. Wallwork is often referred to as the "first allied soldier in France on D-Day" as when he landed his Horsa glider the impact was great enough to catapult him and co-pilot John Ainsworth through the cabin and onto the field below.
