The VC of Commander, Later Rear Admiral, John Bythesea, awarded for service in the Crimea in August 1854 made a good price when it came under the hammer at Spink on April 19

The cross, the second ever awarded, fetched 155,350 and was bought by an agent who's name has been closely linked with Lord Ashcroft's collection in the past - maybe the country's premier gallantry collection just got a little bigger?
